Iraq has recently introduced the 3rd generation of its electronic passport, with an aim to provide its citizens with the highest level of security and convenience while traveling abroad.
The Iraqi Ministry of Interior, responsible for the design and manufacturing of the new ePassport, has taken great care in incorporating state-of-the-art security features that adhere to the recommendations and standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The data page, made of durable polycarbonate materials, is laser engraved with multiple layers of visible and invisible security elements, making it nearly impossible to duplicate or forge.
The new Iraqi ePassport is not just a symbol of security, but also of artistic elegance. The forty-eight visa pages are adorned with colorful inscriptions and designs that pay homage to the rich cultural heritage of Mesopotamia. The intricate details and exceptional security features of the visa pages are a testament to the Ministry’s commitment to both safety and beauty.
What makes this new ePassport particularly innovative is the inclusion of a biometric encrypted data chip, which will allow the passport holder to pass through eGate international borders with ease. Iraq has also joined the ICAO Public Key Directory (PKD) list, ensuring that border authorities worldwide can validate the authenticity of the ePassport.
The Iraqi Ministry of Interior has chosen the fitting slogan “Your passport…your home… wherever you are” to encapsulate the new ePassport’s ability to provide its citizens with a sense of security and belonging, no matter where their travels may take them.
Iraq’s new ePassport is a landmark in the country’s efforts to keep pace with the ever-evolving world of travel and security. With its unparalleled security features, artistic designs, and innovative technology, the new ePassport is a fitting representation of the Iraqi people and their rich cultural heritage.
